Oluwafemi Ibitoye: I’m Oluwafemi — storyteller, tech enthusiast, and the mind behind Beyond the Sahara. I started this blog because I got tired of seeing African history boxed into either tragedy or cliché. There’s so much more to the continent’s story — powerful empires, warrior queens, philosophers, inventors, poets, freedom fighters. These aren’t just “chapters” — they’re epics. And they deserve to be told like it. I’m a tech lover too — always curious about how innovation connects us and how digital tools can help us preserve culture, pass down memory, and reimagine the way we learn about the past. For me, history and tech aren’t opposites — they’re two sides of the same coin. One roots us, the other carries us forward.
